2016.
I am now entering my last week of my 3rd year at the Photojournalism program at Mid Sweden University in Sundsvall.
Out of the 21 students who started we are now left with 13. We made it through our journalism thesies essays around Christmas. And now we are at the finishing line of our Exam Project.
The exam projekt – A Family of Strangers
This years theme is A Family of Strangers. A theme which has been interpreted over a larg spectrum of idéas in our class. We have done everything from refugees, convents, dog rescue groups, circus life and so on.
If you want to check it out (which you should!) look at Blog, Facebookpage and our Instagram for our progress work and other things.
The result of eight weeks of photographing will be presented in a exhibition in Galleri Kontrast in Stockholm on the firsth of June.
Let me tell you a bit about what I have done.
In my projekt field work I visited around 20 cosplayers in Sweden. Cosplay is the short for of "costume play". A hobby where you either sew or buy clothes to try and look like characters from anime, manga, games and books. I traveled from Malmö to Lycksele to get a view over what cosplay is, what they get out of it, the bonds they create with others through it, and how it has formed their lives. I have met so many creative, kindhearted, fun and intressting souls, who all gave a huge contribution to my project.
My material became so big that I have had a hard time decideing which track to go with for my final exam and exhibiton selection. Both photo and text wise. But I have decided that I shall continue working with my material after I have finsihed here because all the people I have met deserve an equal chance in my work. I am forever thankful to them all for making my stress and anxity filled months work out so smooth with their kindess and help.
Back to Uni
The last few weeks we have worked with photo selection, editing, text work, finding sponsers, promotion, putting together a magazine, exhibition preparation, printing and framing. We handed in our final exam selection this Friday and now only have the examination next week.
So our last assignment in this program is handed in. No more deadlines. No more...
Even though these three years have been...complicated, I have to say I am going to miss it. So many things have changed. I am changed. I have met so many great and intressting people. I have learned so much. Tried so many new things.
Anothe chapter ending...
But of course, a new one is beginning. I should be excited, and I guess I am. A bit. But I am also scared as I have no clear idea what my life will be after this...I did get a summer job at Mittmedia editing hubb. And I will be going to Sri lanka for a month as one of my best friends is getting married. But after that...I do hope I will have the chance to stay at my summer job during the autumn as well, as I am not ready to move yet. I have applied for a few distance courses as well as a backup plan. But yeah... we will see.
Oh well. That was an update. Because I suck at blogging. *hides*
(will upload more pictures from my project in the summer...most probably)
